Many people are suffering from dementia which is a condition that makes the person to undergo memory loss as they also get to lose their thinking skills that impair them from performing the day to day activities as supposed to. For the person that has been diagnosed with this condition, they mostly get to be sad and also to the people that are around them undergo a difficult moment than they thought. This particular condition makes the individual to not even get to realize what is going on around them while those people that are looking after them get to handle with much emotions the memory loss of the patient. For that reason, there are a couple of things that the people who are looking after the patient should do and there are other things that they should not be doing to the patient or even around the patient.
As the fact that you will be interacting with this person often, there are things that you should be doing. It is important to keep calm when you are around these people with the dementia condition. These patients are sometimes prone to anger when they are forced to do something that they did not want to do. When the person who is taking care of them forces them to do things like eating or even taking a shower and they do not want, this will make them be angry.
As a result of making them angry, these people end up hitting those that are close to them. The results at the end of it all will be highly influenced by the way that you approach such people when they are in such harsh conditions at that moment. Being realistic about the turn of events is also another thing that you should do. Those that are taking care of the sick person are highly advised that they be ready to accept how things have changed around their loved one and that as time goes by, they will continue to worsen and they may even end up dead as a result of these condition that they are undergoing currently.
One thing that is not encouraged to be done around these people is that you keep on correcting every information that they keep remembering and saying them to you. Some of this information is inaccurate and you are not to correct them. Another thing that you should not do is getting frustrated. The patient may do something that makes you angry and becomes frustrated, but you are not allowed to be in such a condition when you are around them.
